In House of Heartbeat Season Ⅱ, client Yan An is not after a home in the traditional sense — he wants a party house built purely for joy. It should be a quiet retreat for his alone time, and when friends visit, a place for gatherings, games, movie screenings, workouts and shared meals.

Designer Shao Weiyan gave the space a fitting name: PLAY BOX for the Kid-at-Heart.

Within this all-play “box”, what role should curtains play?

Multi-functional Space: Curtains Ready to Respond on Demand

PLAY BOX accommodates solitude, gatherings, movie watching, workouts, dining and more. Each scenario calls for different lighting conditions:

  • For movie screenings, indoor light needs to be dimmed for immersive viewing;

  • For friend gatherings, moderate light transmission creates a laid-back atmosphere;

  • When alone, diffused natural light is desired to keep the space airy and comfortable.

LIDI smart roller shades are made for such multi-functional scenarios.

Semi-Translucent Fabric with Textured Surface: Soften the Light, Elevate Privacy

The LIDI smart roller shades selected for this episode feature fabric with natural textured undulations.

It is neither fully transparent nor completely blackout. When light passes through the fabric, it is diffused by the textured surface and spreads evenly across the room. Drawing the shade will not plunge the interior into darkness. Meanwhile, the semi-sheer material maintains a degree of privacy: people outside cannot see clearly into the room, while those inside can still perceive shifts in natural daylight.

This “diffused light” effect keeps PLAY BOX bright and relaxed even with the shades drawn during daytime, as if the space were wrapped in a soft visual filter.

Smart System: Curtains That Interact with the Weather

Even more impressive is the integrated smart system.

Once connected to the whole-home smart system, LIDI smart roller shades can automatically adjust their position according to outdoor weather and sunlight angles: • On sunny days with intense glare, the shade lowers automatically to block harsh light; • On cloudy days with soft illumination, the shade partially opens to let in natural daylight; • Before a gathering, activate “Party Mode” with one tap. The shade stops at the ideal position to create the perfect vibe.

No longer merely manually operated drapes, the shades act as an interpreter between the space and outdoor weather. They read the external light and deliver just the right amount of brightness into the PLAY BOX.

One Curtain, One Space; Light Shifts with Every Activity

From solitude to gatherings, movie-watching to workouts, Yan An’s PLAY BOX shifts between multiple modes within a single day. LIDI smart roller shades quietly adjust indoor light and atmosphere for every mode.

Light is more than illumination; it serves as another kind of “toy” in this playground.
